7-Day ANNAPURNA GETAWAY Camping Trek.
A Naturalist’s trail to the famous Himalayan view point at Poon Hill

This special Getaway trek involves 8 days of hiking and camping along, little visited areas of the Annapurna foothills. Our journey begins with a drive to Birethanti on the Pokhara-Baglung road. As we begin our trek, we will marvel at the maze of terraces, carved into the hillsides, that make up most of rural Nepal. Our trail winds through forested slopes, interspersed with cultivated terraces, with magnificent views of Machapuchare (Fish Tail Peak) and the entire Annapurnas. Once we climb higher, we pass by the typical slate-roofed villages, on hill-slopes overlooking the mighty Kali Gandaki valley. The giant Dhaulagiri Himal dominate the skyline. Now our trail winds though a magical forest of giant rhododendron and oak trees - far away from the crowded backpacker’s ‘apple pie’ trail. As a fitting finale to this trek we will make a dawn ascent of Poon Hill to enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain-scape on Earth. As the sun touches the snowcapped summits, the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m/26,788ft.) and Annapurna (8,091m/26,538ft.), along with a maze of other peaks, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before our eyes. In the end our trail drops down into the Kali Gandaki river valley near the town of Baglung. A rewarding trek that can be enjoyed by every lover of nature and beautiful landscape.

During October-November and March-May this trek hooks up with a 3-day white water raft trip down the Kali Gandaki river - perhaps one of finest white water trips in the Himalaya. For more information on this raft trip see Nepal River Raft Trips (or write to us).

Easy to moderate trekking and camping between 900m (3000ft) to 2,800m (9,200ft) with day hiking to 3,200m (10,500ft). Fully supported trek with all meals and equipment led by experienced local guide. Trekking Through
"... One Of Nepal’s Most Beautiful Trails."

This Getaway Special branches off the popular trekking routes and heads into beautiful unspoiled wilderness surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. 25-Day DESTINATION DOLPO Camping Trek
A Trek Of Distinction - Nepal’s Remote And Seldom Seen Wild West

This trek, to Nepal’s remote and seldom seen wild west, is possibly one of the best long treks in the Himalaya. This follows the route taken by Peter Matthiessen and immortalized in his famous book The Snow Leopard. The Dolpo area was also the area where Rodney Jackson, a naturalist, conducted his study on the elusive snow leopards which became the subject of a National Geographic article and a book - Vanishing Tracks. This trek offers one of the remotest terrain, natural grandeur and Buddhist villages few westerners have yet visited. Starting by following the tropical Mayagdi Valley the trail crosses several high passes before getting to Tichurong and the Buddhist enclave of Dho and then to the famous Phoksumdo Lake (near where Matthiessen spotted his snow leopard) before swinging back to Dunai and ending with the flight out of Juphal to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu. A trek for those looking for some serious trekking.

Moderate to rigorous trekking and camping through areas, rarely visited by tourist, in altitudes ranging from 915m (3,000ft) to a maximum of 4341m (14,240ft).
