Koshi Tappu wildlife reserve lies on the flood plains of the Sapta-Koshi river in Saptari and Sunsari Districts of eastern part Nepal. The reserve offers an important habitat for a variety of wildlife. The last surviving population (about 100 individuals) of wild buffalo or Arna is also found here including other mammals. A total of 280 different species of birds have been recorded. Amidst the jungle environment Aqua Birds unlimited camp and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp have come into existence. The activities include here are morning jungle walk by the river lagoons and wetlands, canoe ride, slide shows, bird watching, cultural dances and visit unique village settlements.
DAY 01: ARRIVAL
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu airport, you will be taken to the designated hotel. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu
DAY 02: KATHMANDU - BIRATNAGAR – KOSHI TAPPU
Morning: Fly to Biratnagar. Pick up at Biratnagar airport and drive to Koshi Tappu. Afternoon: Bird watching in the marshland outside the reserve to see the storks, ibises, snipes, waterfowl, birds of prey etc. Overnight at Koshi Tappu hotel.
DAY 03: KOSHI TAPPU
Full day excursion on boat and four wheel drive with pack lunch to see waders, waterfowls, birds of prey, marsh crocodile, otters, wild water buffalo and Gangetic Dolphins including a visit to pink tower (Full day). Optional elephant safari prior to boat trip. Overnight stay at hotel in Koshi Tappu
DAY 04: KOSHI TAPPU
Morning: proceed to deciduous forest near Chatara on four wheel drive to see racquet-tailed drongo, golden backed woodpecker, pied hornbills, leaf-birds, red-thighed falconet etc. (Pack lunch will be served). Overnight at hotel in Koshi Tappu.
DAY 05: KATHMANDU
Drive to Biratnagar and fly back to Kathmandu; overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 06: KATHMANDU
Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu. Evening: leisure/ shopping. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu
Day 06: DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for final departure.
