Day 1: Delhi/Onward destination -Bagdogra airport-Rumtek :
On arrival at Bagdogra airport / New Jalpaiguri Rly. Station you will be received by our representative, who will be waiting for a warm welcome just outside of the airport (customs area) / Rly. Station by your name plate /your referral and proceed for Rumtek. On arrival check in into your hotel. Over night stay.
Day 2: Visit Rumtek Dharma Charka center
Today visit Famous Rumtek Monastery, It was constructed by His Holiness the late 16th Gyalwa Karmapa in 1960. It is believed that the monastery is an excellent replica of the original Kagyurpa Monastery in Tsurphu, Tibet. The centre houses some of the world's most unique religious scriptures, manuscripts and religious art objects. A fifteen minute walk downhill from Dharma Chakra Center takes one to the old Rumtek monastery which was originally built in 1730 by the ninth Karmapa but was destroyed by fire and had to be reconstructed to the present state. His Holiness late Gyalwa Karmapa lived in this monastery till the completion of the Rumtek Dharma Chakra Center. Then visit Ganesh Tok (6,500 ft.), a small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and from this place one can take a breathtaking view of Gangtok.Also visit Hanuman Tok, Tashi view point, which is the most popular photography point of Sikkim Himalaya.
Day 3: Visit Do Drul Chorten
Do Drul Chorten at Dotapu Chorten, Gangtok was built under the supervision of the late Most Venerable Trulshi Rinpoche after due preparations in 1945 - 46, in accordance with the prophecy made in 1944 by his Holiness the Dud - Zom Rinpoche. Placed inside the Chorten are a complete mandala set of Dorji Phurpa (Bajra Kilaya), one set of Ka - gyur holy Books, relics, complete 'zung'(mantras) and other religious objects. This chorten is considered to be one of the most important chorten of Sikkim. Around the chorten 108 Mani - Lhokor (Prayer Wheels) are installed. The Chorten is surrounded by Chortne Lhakhang, Guru Lhakhang, where tow huge statues of Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambahava ) are installed, Drupda ( Meditation Centre), Nyingma Shede (Institute of Nyingma Higher Studies) and many smaller monuments including the 'kudung' of the latter Most Venerable Trulshi Rinpoche. The Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology and other Buddhist Studies (SRITOBS) is located near the Chorten. His Eminence Dodrup Chen Rinpoche of Sikkim has his seat at the Chorten Lhakhang and guides the disciples, including the inmates of the Drubda, in their search for higher knowledge and practice of the tenets of the Nyingma Order.
Day 4: Rumtek – Namchi : Namchi
It is the headquarter of the south district. Namchi means sky high, nestled among the hills at an elevation of 1676 meters, commands panoramic view of the snow capped mountains and vast stretches of valley. Visit Namchi Monastery. This monastery is located in Namchi, the district headquarters of south district and was constructed during the reign of Chogyal Guru Namgyal.
Day 5: Namchi – Pameyangste
Today after breakfast depart for Pameyangste.
Day 6: Visit Pameyangste Monastery
Pemayangtse Monastery, built in 17th. Century, it is one of the oldest and most important monasteries of the Nyingmapa order of Buddhism in Sikkim also visit Khecheopalri Lake, it bealived wish fulfilling waters of Khechepalri Lake & later visit Shingshore Suspension Bridge is worth seeing – length & gorge height is 680 ft. It is the second highest bridge in Asia. This area also has its Khandu Sangphu or Hot Springs and Cave. Also Visit water falls. Over night stay in pelling.
Day 7: Pameyangste – Kalimpong
One of the subdivision of Darjeeling, the other two are Kurseong and Mirik. Situated at an altitude of 1250 meters (4100 ft), Kalimpong enjoys the best climate in the region. The dense forest of golden oak trees offset by the rich undergrowth of moss and lichen provide an ideal setting for calm walks on thick cushions of russet-brown leaves.The road is one of the most scenic routes in this part of the nation. The swift flowing Teesta River runs by the side of the road adding to the beauty of the scenery.
Day 8: Kalimpong – Darjeeling
Darjeeling, ”The Queen of Hills” .It was the summer capital of India during the British rule in India when Calcutta was the capital of India. Most amazing destination of eastern himalaya with it snow capped Mt.Khnagchendzonga, world famous tea as well as World heritage site “Toy Train” and many more.
Day 9: Darjeeling Monastery Tour
Early morning visit Tiger hill and after breakfast visit Bhutia Busty Monastery, founded in 1879,the monastery follows Vajrayana School of both Kargyud and Nijingmapa order,also known as red sect.The origin of name ‘Darjeeling’ is linked to this monastery ‘Dorjee’ meaning ‘Thunderbolt’ in Tibetan and ‘Ling’ meaning resting place,thus ‘Place’ of the ‘Thunderbolt’ which was the original name of the Monastery. Also visit Yolmowa Buddhist Makdhog Monastery,which was completed in 1914.The monastery was built by Sangay Lama, a highly revered religious head of the Yolmowas-a small ethnic group hailing from the north east of Nepal and later settled in Darjeeling. Also visit Yiga Choling Monastery, built in 1875 by Lama Sherab Gyantso. This largest monastery contains images of Buddha’s disciples “Chenrezi” and “Tsongkapa” also contains a huge 15 foot image of Maitreya Buddha (The coming Buddha) which is most revered among the Buddhists.
Day 10: Darjeeling – Bagdogra for Delhi / Onward destination
Today is the farewell day of your magnificent tour so do spare few minute of your valuable time and write to tell us how much you enjoyed the tour in this incredible part of the world. After break fast with many wonderful memories drive down to Bagdogra airport / New Jalpaiguri Rly. Station (90 km/4 hours) for Delhi or Onward Destination .En route if time permit can be visited Mirik.Lake.
