The power and beauty of the mountains is more impressive on foot than from any vehicle. Whether you take a two night trek around the Bumthang valley or take the eight day trek to the base of Mt.Chomolhari, the views, villages, people and experi-ence will be unparalleled. Trekking during April and May in the Himalayas brings the deep reds and oranges of the rhododendron blos-som. Earlier in the year the light is shaper but the nights are very cold. In autumn, after the rainy season, the skies clear and leaves begin to turn yellow.
We atGreen Lotus Trekking are committed to offer very personal and efficient services especially for the trekkers. A guide, a cook and some experienced staff accompany all trekkers. Yaks carry by mountain horses and at high altitude provisions and luggage. With the surest footing, they lead trekking groups across the passes.
The horseman and cook will usually run ahead during a trekking day. They will have prepared a packed lunch and will go on to the night's resting place to set up camp. On your arrival at the campsite nothing will taste better than being greeted with a hot cup of tea and biscuits.
Treks vary from short three-day walks across low altitudes to the three weeks Snowman trek that covers 356kms. The northern paths climb as high as 5,500m and should be attempted by strong, experienced walkers. Our Guides are trained to look out for altitude sickness and other ailments that can affect trekkers. They are expert walkers who have been trained as trekking guides and follow routes that have been walked for centuries.
This is a strenuous trek crossing 11 passes, three which are over 5000 m. and you have to be physically fit & mentally prepared. The trek begins from Paro/ Punakha (west) and ends in Bumthang/Trongsa (central). It is a combination of Chomolhari, Laya & Lunana trek crossing the Renchen Zoe pass alt.5, 400m the highest pass in Bhutan. The trek can take 2ldays or 28 days depending on which you prefer to choose. It is one of the most challenging treks in the Himalayas.
Highlights: This trek leads you to the seldom-, passing some of the last virgin peaks of the Himalayas offering you great varietv of trek king conditions, from picturesque farmland and forest to alpine pastureland. This trek will take you close to the huge snow, ice and rock faces of the mountains where most of the Himalayan peaks tower-ing to the north are unnamed and unclimbed. The only inhabitants are rare species such as bharal, or blue sheep, takin and the snow leopard.
